Furniture Factory in Akmene Free Economic Zone

Akmene Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Lithuania

A modern case furniture factory was opened in the Akmene Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in August 2023. This is the second VMG Group facility in the zone, complementing the particleboard factory launched in 2020.


The factory’s production is targeted at large-scale orders for retail chains in Western Europe, Scandinavia, and the United States.

  • Investment value: approx. €82 million for the construction of the factory building and production infrastructure.

  • Production capacity / output value: in the first production phase, around 13,000 cubic meters of furniture per year, with an estimated value of ~€60 million.

  • Employment: up to 600 new high value-added jobs.

  • Timeline: construction and infrastructure development continued until 2023; official launch in August 2023.

  • Stimulates industrial development in Akmenė FEZ: expansion of production infrastructure, growth of the local business community, increasing demand for services and service providers.

  • Contributes to overall FEZ economic growth: rising investment volumes, exports, turnover, company revenues, and employee numbers.

  • Technological and social value: modern manufacturing, creation of high value-added jobs, new opportunities for local residents, and potential return of emigrants.
