Structural Timber Factory in the Akmene Free Economic Zone

2020
One of Lithuania’s most significant industrial projects in recent years is the VMG Group Structural Timber Factory, built in the Akmene Free Economic Zone (FEZ). This modern, sustainable construction facility is focused on the production of high value-added materials such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL) panels and I-joist beams. The project has not only strengthened Lithuania’s position as a regional leader in the wood industry but also created hundreds of new jobs, significantly contributed to regional economic growth, and attracted international investment interest.
The factory’s products are supplied to both local and international markets, including Scandinavia, Western Europe, the Baltic States, North America, and Australia.
Furniture Factory in Akmene Free Economic Zone

A modern case furniture factory was opened in the Akmene Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in August 2023. This is the second VMG Group facility in the zone, complementing the particleboard factory launched in 2020.
The factory’s production is targeted at large-scale orders for retail chains in Western Europe, Scandinavia, and the United States.

One of the most ambitious projects in Lithuania’s wood-processing sector is the VMG (Vakarų Medienos Grupe / Western Wood Group) particleboard factory, built in the Akmene Free Economic Zone (FEZ). It is among the largest “greenfield” investments of its kind in the country. The factory launched operations in the summer of 2020, with its official opening held in August/September 2020.
